Application FAQ

What is the process to apply for a tuition scholarship for my child?

You must complete an application beginning April 1 of each year to be eligible for the program. You may fill out an application form online. Please review our Application Timeline for information regarding our deadlines and distributions.

When are scholarship awards distributed to schools?

APESF has three distribution cycles — one in the spring (March), summer (July) and fall (November). Please see the Application Timeline for a detailed description of deadlines and distribution dates.

Can I apply for a scholarship for my child if they have NOT been recommended to receive a scholarship by an APESF donor?

Yes! APESF uses contributions given without recommendation of a particular student to fund scholarship awards based on financial need for student applicants in this situation. Families must apply beginning April of each year to be eligible.

If my child has been recommended for a scholarship/grant, do I still need to send in a complete application?

Yes. A recommendation by a donor does not guarantee that child will be awarded a scholarship. You must fill out an application each year to be considered for funds that have been recommended for your child.

If I completed an application last year, do I need to re-apply again this year?

Yes. You need to complete an application for each year beginning April 1 to be eligible for the program.

Can I fill out one form for all my children?

Yes. Our online application allows parents to add multiple children on one application.

If my child is young (K-3) and doesn’t participate in many extracurricular activities, will this be counted against him/her on their application?

No. The age of the applicant will be appropriately considered during the decision making process and the lack of participation in extracurricular activities will not be counted against them.

Do you require tax return information to apply for a grant/scholarship?

Yes. The Scholarship Application requires a copy of page 1 & 2 of your most recent tax return. The scholarship committee applies a formula to each application to determine the overall financial position of the applicant. This information is not disclosed to anyone but our staff and scholarship committee.
